How to start cross-stitch
- Pick a small pattern (under 50×50 stitches) — or make one from a photo with our pattern maker.
- Cut Aida fabric with 3″ extra on every side and find the center by folding.
- Separate 2 strands of floss, about 18″ long.
- Start from the center of the pattern (marked with red arrows on our charts) and the center of the fabric.
- Make each "X" with the top stitches all crossing the same direction.
- Work one color at a time, row by row.
